As in any of our tile floors, borders, or mosaics, medallions can be fashioned out of ceramic tile, porcelain tile, glass tile, or stone. A popular style of medallion is called the compass rose (pictured above). Though the basic idea remains the same between all compass rose designs, unique looks can be achieved in the details, proportions, shapes, and colors. They can be simple or complex in styling, traditional or modern - notice how the general design is very similar in both rose medallions, yet they look so much different simply by selecting different materials.
